Wales, UK
Afternoon everyone, and how are we all today? So today we have another book review for you guys, It’s a review on Sylvia Ashby’s Pot Love: The Sinking Chef. This review is apart of a book tour put on by Jenny and I had the pleasure of reading this book in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly lets start off with a little bit about the book itself.

BLURB
"Bridget Jones meets Burnt in this delightful comedy novel about a talented YouTuber and the guy who keeps trying to bring her down. Although part of a series this book is completely standalone, as are all other novels in the Pot Love Series.

In Belsize Park, London, Ashley works hard on her daily YouTube channel “The Sinking Chef”. It’s filmed right in her kitchen, so she doesn’t go out much.

James is a gruff British TV director, turned publisher, who Ashley had a crush on ages ago. She has moved on but when he calls with an offer to take her out to lunch she doesn’t say no. It’s only lunch – what can go wrong?

The day Ashley meets James for lunch and he promises her a book deal, she makes the worse decision in her life – to hide the book deal from her boyfriend, Giacomo. As things progress Ashley’s secrets mount up and other things in her life unravel. Is there a connection? And how is she going to get out of this without losing Giacomo and the life she loves?

Set in the heart of fast-paced London, The Sinking Chef is a charming story of love, recipes, secrets, and the determination to do thinks right by those you love most in your life."

REVIEW
So let’s start with the fact that this book is actually the second in a series, but having not read the first book myself I have to say it’s great as a stand alone book, but I am looking forward to reading the first book to get a little more insight into Ashley’s life. I love the fact that Ashley is a YouTuber, I’m not a YouTuber as I wouldn’t have the confidence but I love to watch YouTube and I find her really relatable through this. Also being a blogger you kind of feel a connection with her as you know the kind of world she lives in.
I actually found myself wanting to read more and more of Ashley’s story, Sylvia has written her character very well. As soon as the character of James is introduced I just had an instant dislike for him, I felt like screaming ‘stay away from him’, (only I’m sure the people in the work canteen would have through I was crazy).
I did however love the story of Ashley and Giacomo, I felt like they were written perfectly, so sweet together and something more real than some fictional relationships. I really like when I can connect with characters and situations in a book because it feels a lot more real and not so much made up (so to speak).
Lastly, I really love how Sylvia starts every new chapter with a recipe, this for me was a very night touch to the book. The characters and story for me were very well written and I hope she has a lot of success with the series and the books really deserve to be read around the world. I’m sure I will be getting my hands on a copy of the first book pretty soon.
